ODOL S.A.I.C., personal care company, has Susana Silberberg & Associates for their Systems and Processes Enhancement project.
Buenos Aires, March 1994. Susana Silberberg & Associates, specialist in systems and business process improvement, has been chosen by ODOL SAIC for designing and implementing a program for optimizing the information technology use in the company.
The Company
ODOL is an Argentine company dedicated to manufacturing and distributing personal care, oral care, and household cleaning products.
Situation - Target
ODOL was living a transition context from the hyperinflation to the economical stability, wholesalers market concentration, strong competitors and exigent clients, which made the company review their management model and their related information system. For instance, the variable demand required “automatic reposition”, and “on-line answers” in non regular hours.
Solución
The process Sales Order-Shipping was redesigned to a client-oriented vision, and with workflow approvals of Sales and Credits.
An Information and Management Center database was created, with client-server architecture.EDI and Bar code technologies were implemented, and these were the first EDI transactions in Argentina.
Gained Results
After 6 months, the shipping time was reduced from 4 to 2 days, the databases were integrated improving the information quality and the response time of all functional areas in the company. Additionally, administrative costs were reduced in 40% without affecting the salaries and headcount.
